Pocatello Costco Set to Open

It's official! The much anticipated opening of the new Pocatello Costco is this week. Doors open to the public on Thursday, October 23rd at 8 a.m. at 305 West Quinn Road.

Although I am not a Pocatello resident, I was thrilled to receive a Costco mailer with coupons and membership information a few days ago. I have been a Costco member since 1998 and I enjoyed frequenting Costco locations in Twin Falls, Idaho, Orem, Utah, San Diego, California, and Anchorage, Alaska during my college days. Since moving to Idaho Falls in 2002, I have appreciated the convenience of the local Sam's Club, but there are a few items that I can only find at Costco--like Kirkland brand chewable Vitamin C and the most adorable little girls dresses. You know, the essentials! I don't know if I'll be able to make it to the Grand Opening this week, but I will be stopping frequently on my trips to visit my parents in the Burley area.

It's been fascinating to witness the tremendous retail growth that has taken place in Pocatello in the past few years. NAI Commerce One is currently leasing space at the beautiful new Gold's Gym Retail plaza that is less than a half mile away from Costco on Flandro. For more information on the space available at Gold's, please view the listing on Loopnet by clicking here, or email marketing@nai-idaho.com with your questions.

INL Researchers Meet Major Hydrogen Milestone

A team of scientists from the U.S. Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory reached a major milestone in September with the successful production of hydrogen through High-Temperature Electrolysis (HTE).

The milestone was reached when the Integrated Laboratory Scale experiment started producing hydrogen at a rate of 5.6 cubic meters per hour.

"This is by far the biggest achievement we've had," said Carl Stoots, the experiment’s principal investigator.

With this milestone met, the HTE plant is on its way to opening many doors for innovation in energy production, contributing to the Department of Energy’s overarching goal of a "hydrogen economy." Eventually, HTE could provide pure hydrogen for fuel cell-powered cars, Herring said – "but that’s a long way off."

(The HTE plant is located in the Bonneville County Technology Center, 101 Technology Drive in Idaho Falls, across the street from the INL Research Center. )

As Economic Ripples Continue Outward, Funds Amass to Move at First Sign of Upturn

A message from NAI Global President & CEO Jeffrey M. Finn

When the USA credit market buckled in August of 2007 it was difficult to foresee just how far and wide the ripples would be felt. But now, one year later, it is clear that the ripple would touch the world. Even the most buoyant markets have not been immune to the great credit strike of 2008.

While the construction lending spigot has shut off and the terms for investment grade debt have become much more expensive in the Western world, the emerging East is beginning to feel the pinch. Even the booming BRIC countries are starting to slow due to the combined reduction in Western demand and the higher cost of capital. But with the cycle opportunities are created. To seize this unique moment, billions are now being amassed in funds ready to pounce once the perceived bottom has been reached.
