Pocatello, Idaho Falls Rank High on Forbes List

Pocatello Ranks #22 on Forbes List of Best Places to Set Up a Small Business, Idaho Falls Ranks #28

Pocatello, Idaho may seem like a small town. But, this little gem has been ranked by Forbes among the best small places in the country  to set up a small  business. It's ranked 22nd. 

 

"We have a lot of things to offer to the business community. And then when you look at family life and the safety of our community, it's a town that businesses are looking at and realizing it's a very desirable place to be," said Mayor Roger Chase.  This ranking comes from high ratings in categories like: cost of living, cost of doing business and income growth.

 

Idaho Falls also ranked high in the report, coming in at #28.

Idaho Governor Signs Bills to Lure Areva

Governor Butch Otter signed two bills which aim to lure French uranium company Areva to Bonneville County.

The bills offer both property and sales tax incentives.  Areva is considering locating a plant Bonneville County somewhere between Idaho Falls and the Idaho National Laboratory.  The company, worth $2.5 billion, could bring in hundreds of millions to the local economy over the years.  The company is also considering locating in Washington, Ohio, Texas and New Mexico.

A regionally renowned restaurant is coming to Idaho Falls. Snake River Landing is pleased to announce that Iggy’s Sports Grill has begun construction on their new restaurant on the south side of Pancheri Drive in the city’s largest master-planned community. This is the first Iggy’s in Idaho.

Lamont Village Development in Fremont County

Proposed Development in Fremont County Might Be Larger Than St. Anthony

A new development could bring thousands of new homes to Fremont County. The Developers are looking at building nearly 2,200 new homes, making the new Lamont Village about the size of St. Anthony, if not bigger.

"The development we envision, is more of a rural setting, you'll notice a lot of our plans and proposals are residences with a lot of open area."That wide open area will be off state Highway 32 between Ashton and Tetonia. The development is called Lamont Village. The developers presented their plans to Fremont County Planning and Building tonight, they're looking at building around 2,200 homes on about 6,200 acres of land.

NAI broker Clinton Arnold attended the Lamont Village Developer's presentation at the March 10th Fremont County Planning and Zoning meeting and was very impressed by the plans. The project is of particular interest to Clinton because it is within 4.5 miles of one of his newest listings, Otto Garz Ranch, which is a beautiful property located on 300+ acres with incredible Teton views and development potential.

Lamont Village will no doubt impact the outlook for investors looking for property in Fremont County.

INL awards $5 million Contract to Idaho Falls-based firm.

INL Awards Construction Contract: $5 Million Construction Project Will Consolidate Facilities

Mar. 3--Idaho National Laboratory announced Thursday that it has awarded a contract to Idaho Falls-based Eagle Rock Timber to build a new radiochemistry laboratory at the Materials and Fuels Complex on the INL desert Site.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for the spring with the facility slated to open in Feb. 2009.
The laboratory is estimated to cost $5 million and will consolidate activities from existing laboratories. The new lab's ongoing research will support INL program areas including Advanced Fuel Cycle development, homeland security, and research in partnership with industry, other laboratories, university and international organizations.
